Hylines

Hylines are a hybrid chicken specifically bred for their egg laying ability, seldom going clucky.

The Hylines we get are normally aged 16 weeks, and they start laying around 20 weeks if well cared for (can take longer in winter due to the short daylight hours).

At 16 weeks they are old enough to go straight onto a good quality Layer pellet.

They have been vaccinated and the program of vaccinations is this:

The chicks Receive at the Hatchery

Mareks

Coccidiosis

Salmonella

The Normal Vaccination program on farm (where they raise them to 16 weeks) is

Megan Vac (Salmonella) 2 week & 14 Week

IB ( Infectious Broncihits) 4 week & 10 week

AE ( Avian Influenza) 11 week

So when you're buying a Hyline, it pays to ask at what age did they leave the commercial growers, as chicks bought as day olds have missed out on the 2,4,10,11 & 14 week vaccinations.
